The Two Tasks: Ambassador Charles Malik’s Historic Challenge to American Christians

Join us for a luncheon conversation between author and historian Joseph Loconte and Habib Malik, educator and son of Charles Malik, Lebanon’s first ambassador to the United States and one of the architects of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The two will discuss the enduring importance of Ambassador Malik’s 1980 address at Wheaton College, “The Two Tasks,” in which he challenged evangelical Christians to help renew the mind of Western culture by engaging in the intellectual life of the universities. “No civilization can endure with its mind being as confused and disordered as ours is today,” he said. “Save the university and you save Western civilization.
The event will take place at The Church of the Resurrection (501 E Street SE, Washington, DC 20005). It will take place at noon on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Lunch will be provided.
