The Institute on Religion and Democracy and its publication, Providence Magazine, are inviting you to attend a two-part course on the principles of Christian Realism, a foreign policy worldview with roots represented in various thinkers as far back as Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, and John Calvin, an which has also enjoyed prominence as an intellectual force displayed in such recent scholars as Reinhold Niebuhr and Jean Bethke Elshtain.
These courses will take place on July 18 and July 25 (both of which are Mondays) at 6:30 PM ET.
The course will be taught by two scholars of the just war/Christian Realist traditions, including Marc LiVecche, the McDonald Distinguished Scholar of Ethics, War, and Public Life at Providence, who is also a non-resident research fellow at the US Naval War College in the College of Leadership and Ethics, as well as Eric Patterson, who serves as Executive Vice President of the Religious Freedom Institute, as well as a Research Fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs.
Dinner will be served ahead of time before these courses at 6:00 PM ET, and there will be opportunities to network and socialize both before and after the seminars. All attendees are encouraged to bring guests! The costs of admission for attendance are $25. Reading materials will be distributed to participants following ticket purchase. We hope to see you there!
